Charter: Education Committee
I. Long Term Goal
To improve the education and training experiences for user groups in
support of their members and for individual members who require education to
effectively use Oracle products and services.
II. Strategies
- Collect information from our users to assist OU in improving their services
to our community.
- Investigate alternative methods of getting training out to our users.
- Improve communication and awareness of alternative training solutions between
user groups and users.
III. Objectives
- Understand the policies and procedures of Oracle University.
- Understand the policies and procedures of the Documentation Teams in each
Oracle product line for developing training curricula.
- Identify concerns with courses offered by Oracle University or other education
issues of the Oracle customer community.
IV. Activities and Goals
- Identify and become knowledgeable of the information available to the typical
Oracle customer regarding Oracle University policies and procedures, course
availability, cost, etc.
- Identify and become knowledgeable of training available for Oracle customers
from other avenues.
- Develop customer survey(s), to determine user needs about education on
Oracle related products and give to user groups to distribute to its user
base.
- Report analysis findings to Oracle liaison, Oracle University, user group
representatives, and or others as determined necessary by this Committee.
- Where appropriate, work with Oracle to improve customer communications,
minimize customer concerns relating to training / education via all avenues.
V. Organization
- IOUC Education Committee is comprised of members representing user groups
recognized by Oracle.
- Oracle liaison to assist with communication between the user groups and
Oracle.
- As appropriate one or more Oracle liaisons to represent the various regions/product
groups as an associate member of the committee.
- A member of the committee will be Chair and Co-Chair.
VI. Committee Member Responsibilities
- Discuss and come to consensus on organizational strategies, objectives,
activities and goals as outlined above. Modify as appropriate.
- Make a fair assessment of the current state of education available for Oracle
customers.
- Make appropriate recommendations to Oracle, and user groups.
- Improve communications between Oracle, the IOUC, and/or user groups regarding
Oracle training.
- Continue to monitor the state of the above objectives and adjust and improve
as needed.
- Committee members are expected to attend scheduled meetings. If a member
finds that they are consistently unable to participate, they are responsible
for resigning from the committee in favor of a replacement from the same user
group.
VII. Oracle Liaison Responsibilities
- Provide requested information to the Committee as appropriate.
- Assist in the preparation/review of proposed customer surveys.
- Accept and consider feedback from the Committee.
- Provide appropriate response, in a timely manner, to the committee on issues
raised.
VIII. Frequency and Duration of Meetings
- Monthly telephone conference and in person as appropriate with electronic
documentation after the meeting.
- Most Committee work can be accomplished by telephone conference, except
for preparation and presentation of reports to user group leadership.
- Most meetings should take less than one hour, except for preparation and
presentation of reports to management.
